Fertility is not something we tend to be aware of until it becomes an issue in our lives. We just assume that all will be well, when the time is right. Especially males! They don’t really have any signs that they are fertile. On the other hand, women have several. We all know about the monthly bleed, greeted with celebration or dismay depending on the situation! But what other things can make you aware of your fertility, so that you can have some control over it?
Most other signs are less obvious and need to be looked for. Some women master this skill easily but to others, it’s not so simple!
Perhaps the most obvious sign is one women maybe don’t even notice much! I mean, how many of us closely examine the contents of our undies on a daily basis? Off they come, hurled unceremoniously towards the washing basket, sometime a direct hit, more often a miss. Or notice the consistency of the mucus on the loo paper after wiping? Nope, dropped straight into the loo!
With a little education and observation, that mucus can become our best friend! Is it white, clear, thick, thin, slimy or other? And how best to check?
Well, one foot up on the loo, fingers in and scoop! Easy! Yes! As long as you have arms akin to an orangutan and the balance of a prima ballerina! Can always try the “on your back, legs in the air” approach! Or maybe not. Just peek at the undies or paper, maybe?
Ok, don’t fancy mastering that one? Buy yourself a digital thermometer, or even a fertility temperature monitor then. Your temperature rises slightly before the egg steps out so you are looking for that rise on your chart! Every morning, before you do anything else pop in the thermometer, in your mouth, but more accurate in other intimate places, we won’t mention!
Then lie still until it’s cooked! Simple! Until you wake up late, and have to rush. Or you desperately need the bathroom. Or you are hungover, or forgot and took a gulp of the tea , lovingly delivered by you other half! Or he has other ideas!
There has to be other ways? Well we can resume position A and feel for the cervix! It roves around at the top of your foof, until it gets messages to collect any imminent travelers, when it drops down towards daylight! Easy!
All you have to do is match up all three to optimum conditions and Bingo! Or not bingo, depending on your desired outcome! Seriously though, being aware of your own fertility is empowering, whatever the reason you want to know! As a fertility awareness practitioner, I can teach you how to have this awareness. It’s really not as difficult as it sounds!
