Before I tell you about the community yoga class I hosted on the weekend, I wanted to give you some background first.
Ever since I can think I wanted to give back something to society. But I wasn’t sure on how I wanted to do it. When I started my Yoga Teacher Training, I knew straight away that as part of my teaching I wanted to host charity and community yoga classes. Yoga made such a big difference in my life and I want to share that with people and do something good and give back at the same time.
If we can all do a little that is selfless, the world will be a better place. I never quite knew how I could help other people but yoga enables me to combine two of my passions.
Brighton Community Yoga Class
I am lucky enough to collaborate with Studio iO and host monthly community yoga classes once a month. The March community class as last weekend and I was really looking forward to it. I am so grateful to anyone that joined the class and donated money for a great cause. The class had a great energy and it made my heart open even more to get the support from new and old students.
Because the class is donation based, it makes yoga accessible to people who possibly normally wouldn’t be able to join classes. It’s also great for someone who wants to give a little back but isn’t quite sure on how to do it.
Recently I have been really affected by homeless people. It breaks my heart. There have been numerous times I messaged my boyfriend and just told him I upset I was that there are so many homeless people. My original plan was to donate the money to a different charity but donating the money to a homeless charity feels closer to my heart. It was always important for me to give back to a local charity. So, I’m currently looking for a local homeless charity in Brighton/Sussex.
Brighton Community Yoga Class Dates
The next community class that I’m going to teach at Studio iO will be on 7th April 2018. The proceeds from March’s and April’s class will be going to the homeless charity. If you are around on the 7th April, come and join me and support a good cause.
May’s community class will be on 5th May 2018. Coincidentally this is my Birthday. So, I decided to donate the money from all my classes (including my two regular yoga classes) to Charity. (I haven’t decided what charity the money goes to yet, but will add the Charity to my Facebook page as soon as I know where the money goes to)
I feel passionate about making this world a better place and I feel this is the least I can do to help.
