Recently I’ve gotten more into my ‘spiritual’ side and thought it was time I got myself a few more crystals and try some smudging. I already had a few crystals but I wanted to expand my ‘collection’ for a while. In the spur of the full moon, I thought it’s the perfect time to get more Crystals and a smudge kit.
I’ve never done smudging before, so wanted to look up some of the benefits of smudging first. I mean, I know it smells nice but there is more to smudging. The ones I got were made of sage.
To do smudging, you need a smudge stick. They are bundles of dried herbs and generally made of sage or white sage but other herbs such as cedar, juniper, frankincense, sweetgrass and many more can be added to bring in extra properties and dimensions.
Generally, smudge sticks are used to heal or cleanse the aura, person or object and it’s a great way to remove negative energy. The smoke from dried sage actually changes the ionic composition of the air and can have a direct effect on reducing stress levels. It’s a great way to cleanse your crystals, by passing the smoke over them.
The same can also be achieved with burning palo santo and Sage wood, they just have different smells. It’s a case of what smell you personally prefer. I actually really like the smell of palo santo.
Here are the crystals that I was drawn to get (descriptions found on The Psychic Tree Website):
This is a great crystal for uplifting your mood. It enhancing relaxation and spiritual guidance allowing your true feelings and thoughts to guide you.
Smokey Quartz Point
Part of the Quartz family of crystal this variety is best known for its grounding ability as well as its ability to raise vibrations during meditation.
It is linked to base chakras and is best used for healing on the abdomen, hips, and legs.
Lapis Lazuli is great for use in meditation. It helps open the third eye and balance the throat chakra. It stimulates enlightenment and enhances dream work, psychic abilities and stimulate spiritual power.
(this one I was drawn to for quite some time so was really excited to get it)
Natural Citrine does not hold on to negative energies so doesn’t need to be cleared or cleansed to reap the benefits.
Citrine, harnessing the powers of the sun, is a named “The Merchants Stone” as it lends itself to acquiring wealth and success. It also lends itself to strengthening relationships, attracting love and happiness to the user.
I can’t wait to experiment a bit more with Crystals and smudging in the future. Let me know in the comments your experience with crystals and smudging and what you use it for.
