Another year has gone by and now that it’s coming to an end, I’m taking some time to review this incredible year.
2018 the year of change
This year started out with me living in south London, working full time as a Project Manager in London as well as working part-time as a Yoga Teacher whilst also having a weekend relationship with Dale in Sussex.
At the beginning of 2018, we decided to move in together, in Sussex. That meant that I moved all my classes from South London to Sussex and also started commuting four hours a day. I always knew that it was going to be a lot but when talking about it, I thought I could just read or do some of my yoga work on the train. Moving weekend came and I saw our house for the first time (as I was working in London, I didn’t manage to view the house and had to trust Dale – he did a great job).
I started commuting to London five days a week and quickly knew that I wouldn’t be able to do that for long. The four hours commuting was starting to get to me and really run me down. After some near arguing and a lot of fighting at work, I managed to negotiate to work from home one day, which helped.
I started my new yoga classes in April and have attracted an amazing tribe. I love the community that I’m building here.
One of the reasons that I wanted to move to Sussex was to slow down my life a bit and live a healthier life. Getting up at 4:30 am, commuting four hours a day and running around all day until I literally fell into bed at night was not slowing it down or living healthy at all. I was neglecting my own mental health and self-care big time.
After breaking down crying three times within a week in front of three different people, including Dale who never saw me cry before, I decided that I was going to quit my job after we’ve come back from holiday in October. That gave me time to save some money up, get my business ready and myself ready.
We went on an amazing holiday in Marrakech in October. Some much needed time off and away from the computer and spending some quality time together with Dale. This has really shown me how important it is to take time off. I kept going for nearly a year by that point with working full time, commuting and working on my own business. I was run down to say the least.
After our amazing holiday, I handed in my notice at work. For some of the people at work that seemed to come as quite a surprise. Going through that process was scary and exciting at the same time. During the last weeks of working there, I experienced some of the worst bullying that I’ve ever experienced, so much so that I broke down crying at my leaving drinks. I was glad once I walked out of there for the last time. That place always had a negative feeling for me, nothing more than a feeling.
December started off catching up on things, working from home every day, I had to change my whole routine. I’m still adjusting my routine. To be honest, I was putting myself under way too much pressure to start off with, my dairy back to back full with things to do. That completely freaked me out, so I cleared my diary out and just do whatever comes up and listen to my intuition more. December also gave me some space to recover from the year.
I didn’t realise how much this year has had an impact on me and my health. The more I listened to my body, the more rest I got and started feeling much better.
2018 has been a year of learnings for me. From creative yoga sequencing to business courses to my RTT training. RTT for me has really changed my life and gave me the last push that I needed to quit my job. It literally changed my life, so much so that I started my own RTT training, which I completed beginning of December, just in time for me working full-time for myself.
Getting to know my spiritual side
At the end of this year, I got to know my spiritual (or woo-woo) side a lot more. For the first time I had a tarot reading, two actually in December, one at the beginning in time for my new venture and the second after Christmas to have a look at the coming few months. The new year is always a turning point.
After the second reading, I felt so complete and like I finally found myself. It seemed like everything made sense. It’s the same feeling I had when I moved to the UK, so I know that I’m on the right path.
I’m ready for 2019
I’m so excited about 2019. I’ve already got so many things planned for 2019, there’s so much going on in the background. I’m really listening to my intuition and tapping even more into my spiritual side.
2019 is going to be the year of growth for me. Personal and spiritual as well as business.
I feel like I’ve finally come home, I’m complete and 2019 is going to be so amazing and I can’t wait to share it with you!
